I would like to install MS Office version 4.3 (don't
laugh, I'm used to this ancient version)onto a new
computer with MS Windows XP home edition installed by the
manufacturer. Will it fly?

Office 4.3 is 16 bit and was designed for Windows 3.0/3.1/WFWG 3.11.
The only way to find out if it will work is to try to install it.
Versions of Office back to Office 95 will work in XP but 4.3 pre-dates
even Office 95.

Greetings --

It's very unlikely. The Office 4.3 applications required certain
DOS/Win3.x files, such as Share.exe, being started by Autoexec.bat.
Naturally, WinXP has none of these requisite files, and doesn't really
use Autoexec.bat..
