Installing new software/programs

Recently my hard drive and back up drives crashed. I had to use the XP
restore discs from HP. Since the restore I have had problems installing new
software & programs. Either they freeze in the middle of installation, or
critical components that the program needs to run are not installed, and a
message appears saying that I have to reinstall. After reinstalling the same
thing happens.

How can I correct this problem?????

This is a bit too much to guess at. Can you provide more details.

What caused the crash?

What version of XP and what Service Packs are installed?

Did you clean install XP, repair install or did you just re-install
over-the-top?

What programmes are failing to install?
Were they previously installed?
What error messages exactly are you getting?
Have you successfully installed any programmes?

Supply as much information as you can and you'll get much more help.
