Installing Network Card (Software)

Hello,

I just reformated and installed Win XP. I was using Win2k before so XP is
a little unfamiliar. I was previously connected to a home network. My problem
is that now I'm having trouble getting connected to this network.

I'm having problems with my network card... XP is detecting that an
ethernet card is indeed installed, but it's not installing the drivers in
order for it to work. I need to be connected to the network so that I can get
drivers for everything else, like sound card, video card, etc etc. I cannot
connect to the internet to download the correct drivers for me ethernet card,
and I cannot connect to any other computers that could share a ethernet
driver. I can't download the drivers on another computer and put them on a
floppy, obviously. My thinking was that XP should automatically detect and
install the correct drivers provided with XP, but no matter what I do or try,
I don't see a way to manually do that.

Any help would be appreciated!

You probably have overlooked a CD with the Ethernet or NIC drivers on it.
You may have lost it - if you have then you have little choice BUT to use a
different PC to go to the 'net (see www.driverguide.com u: drivers p: all or
get your own for free) and download them from there and burn them to CD to
take to your computer. It's quite likely that you have a CD that came with
your PC that has those drivers on it. Where did you put them?
