Installing .NET Runtime

I have a Win2k Pro machine that I have tried to install the .NET runtime 1.1.
the install indicated that it need to update the MSI installer and I said
yes. An error occurred during this process and now I cannot install the
Runtime. There is some information in the Event Log about not being able to
find certain installer add ons but these are logged when the computer is
rebooted, not during the attempted installation of the runtime. I need to get
the Runtime installed so that I can get my application installed that
requires the runtime. Help???

Yes, I was logged on as an Admnistrator...

Maybe that "some information in the Event Log about not being able to
find certain installer add ons but these are logged when the computer is
rebooted" is what the installer need to reinstall .net 1.1.

Windows Installer 3.0 Redistributable

PRB: Installation of .NET Framework Fails and Requires Manual Removal

Or try re-registering or reinstalling the Windows Installer:
