installing memory

I just installed new memory. I am upgrading from 128 to
256. It won't read in either banks.
It is installed correctly.
After installing the motherboard beeped 5 times and
wouldn't load XP.

What now?

5 beeps (on motherboards with an AMI BIOS) means CPU failure but read
your motherboard manual to see if 5 beeps means something different
for your motherboard. When you installed the RAM did you take
anti-static precautions?

mobo?

Does the BIOS have an limitations on memory?
