Installing IIS

I have a new XP Pro notebook - Inspiron 6000. I am trying to install and get
IIS
to work.

I installed IIS and the message said it installed fine.
However, services says it is running.
I don't see a short cut under Admin Tools.

MMC snap in does not work (I checked the PATH and it is correct).

It is like IIS is installed but I cannot get to it. Sounds bizarre but any
ideas ?

Jeff,
Try removing it and reinstall it..
I have removed and then reinstalled IIS a lot of times. Most times it
gets stuck and I have to stop the event and reboot the machine. Any ideas
why that happens ?

Being a brand new machine, I also reinstalled Windows XP Pro. That made
the machine in the same state as when I received it. You can guess, it
made no difference.
What happens when you browse to http://localhost ?
The error I get is:
Page cannot be displayed

Cannot find server or DNS error

Thanks for looking into this.

Run netstat -an

Do you see something like:
Active Connections

Proto Local Address Foreign Address State
TCP 0.0.0.0:80 0.0.0.0:0 LISTENING
?

I am having the same difficulties. When I ran netstat -an I did not have
0.0.0.0:80 show up. What should I do now?
