Installing getting error 1327 invaild e drive

I am having an issue installing spyware on my home pc. I
installed at work and it worked perfectly. I keep getting
an error 1327 telling me I have an invalid e drive. I was
using an external hard drive at one point, but it is not
connected at this time. Anyone else having this issue??

I have encountered this problem this morning as well when
trying to install spyware software. My error referred to
drive b: which made me suspicious, becuase some time ago,
I had a mapped drive called B:\ to one of my network
folders.

I no longer use this drive, and have since deleted the
mapping, however, forgot that at the time I had changed
the default path for Internet Explorer Favorites to
B:\favorites (requires change in registry).

When installer loads for spyware software it must query
this path, and in my case found that it doesn't exist.

A simple change to the registry fixed this problem for me
in no time.

[HKEY CURRENT
USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Use
r Shell Folders]
Set the Favorites path to : %USERPROFILE%\Favorites

The above should be a REG_EXPAND_SZ value, not REG_SZ

Using the "Find" command in the registry editor I also
found several other references to B:\ that I had
overlooked and fixed these up as well. Although it was
definitely the favorites folder that caused my spyware
installation problem.

External Hard Drive Issues

I also had this same problem. A few weeks ago I installed an external hard drive and set My Music and My Pictures to come from the E: (external) instead of the Default C: drive. So anytime I wanted to install any software it said that I would have the error 1327.

How I fixed it was by going into the registry and changing it back to the original.

[HKEY CURRENT USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders]

Instead of it being E:\My Documents
It should be %USERPROFILE%\My Documents
