Does anyone know whether one can install FP2002 which is
bundled with XP Pro on an NT4.0 machine? When I start to
install I get a notice that it(the install program)needs
to update the core system and various data acess
components. What does this do? I do not want to loose
support for devices already installed on my NT system
which are not supported by XP os. I am a designer and am
heavily dependent on my scanner, drawing tablet etc. and
cannot affort to upgrade everything. Help! Please.

I'm confused because FP 2002 is not bundled as part of XP Pro. The FP 2000
Server Extensions are the only thing that are part of XP Pro and those
aren't even the 2002 Server Extensions. Most of the newer software packages
require updates to the OS that aren't part of NT, or any of the recent
service packs. Things like the latest XML parser which may be required by
various elements of FP or components that FP uses.

Hope this helps,

FP 2002 was part of Office XP Professional. FP 2003 is not part of the
Office System Professional.

Yes, you can install FP 2002 on WinNT machines. I would suggest running
Windows Update (http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com/) on your NT machine and
then try reinstalling FP 2002. Windows Update will determine what is
missing on your machine and will update it to the current service pack.
