I just restored my laptop for the first time which didnt come with CDs, it
has a preset partition or something where the "disks" are stored, something
kind of new to me. Before restoring, i used the "Backup" in the system tools
section. now that i restored, i went to restore what i Backed up but the
"Backup" was no longer there. I saw everywhere on the microsoft site about
how to get to it to install it from the CD but again, my computer doesnt come
wtih CDs. Cant i still install it somehow? Why was it there before i
restored and not now?

Where abouts did you do your backup to? Most recovery solutions that come
with laptops just reimage the c:\ drive with the image that originally came
with the laptop wiping anything that was on the c:\ drive.
