Installing Add-Ins

Gretchen

I have the MS Office Basic Edition 2003.
How do I install Add-Ins for Excel? I go to TOOLS>ADDINS
and check the add-ins I want (Analysis ToolPak, e.g.).
An installation process is then started, but almost
immediately, I get ERROR 1311 Source File Not Found,
followed by a very long file name in a MSOCACHE folder.
I also want to install the VB help files, but I'm having
similar problems.
What should I do?
(Thanks in advance)

Are you at home? I would completely reinstall Office 2003 choosing the "run
all from my computer" option. It sounds like you did a limited install or
the install was never completed properly.

Hope this helps!

This worked perfectly!
My computer came with Office 2003 installed, but I found
the disk and used the option you suggested.
Thanks a lot!!!

Hi Gretchen, Did you get this figured out yet? I'm having
the same problem. I also have XP and it asks for the CD
rom to finish the installation but even then, it still
doesn't work. Let me know if have any answers...
Thanks

Yes, I did get it to work, using Anne's posted reply.
This is what I did:
Insert CD;
open the Setup icon;
check "Add or Remove Features";
in the next window, check ALL OF THE APPLICATIONS that
you want to keep (not just Excel) AND check "Choose
Advanced Customization...";
in the next window, click on EVERY application to
select "Run all from my computer" for each one.

The 1st time I did this, I selected "Run all..." just for
Excel and the addin stuff worked, but not the VB help.
When I re-did it for all of them, everything worked.
I probably should have skipped choosing "Run all..." for
Outlook, because I think it changed some things (e.g. I
had to re-select my email signature). It was all minor,
though.
Did this help you?
Gretchen
