i hav ebeen trying to bring up a computer with winXP but
it is saying that a file window root\system32\hal.dll
it says it is corrupted so i got that file of another
computer and i set up my bad one to start floppy first
now my question is how do i install that file to the
computer using DOS command prompt thatks

You don't install that file. It is created by the Windows XP install on
your system, for your system's particular hardware. You can't copy it from
another system. Go to:

http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_abc.htm

Click on the letter H
The first entry will explain hal.dll
Below that will be info for troubleshooting and recovering...
