Installed Templates Tabs

In Word 2003, I've created several folders for my created templates (e.g.,
"Contracts"). The File, New dialog box is getting crowded, and I'd like to
remove all the tabs for the installed templates (other than "General," which
has normal.dot). I never use the installed templates anyway. Is there a way
to do this? Thanks,

Yes, you have to uninstall the templates. Go to Control Panel | Add/Remove
Programs, select Microsoft Office 2003, and choose Change. Select "Add or
Remove Features," then find the templates (in Word XP you choose Word in the
tree view, then Wizards and Templates) and mark them as Not Available

Thanks, Suzannne. Do you know whether there is a way to save the installed
templates in another folder, in the remote event I decide I want to use one
of them?

This is exactly what I did in Word 2002. I copied all the installed
templates into a Word Templates folder before uninstalling them. What I
missed was Support.dot, which was in the Macros folder rather than in the
1033 folder, so be careful of that one, which you definitely want to keep.
