installation trouble

I have Windows XP installed on my computer. I was
encountering issues and decided to just re-install the
operating system. I declined to search for the most
updated XP files when I began Setup because I was not able
to connect to the internet at the time.
I am stuck. Setup stops responding or "hangs" with 34
minutes remaining. I checked the error log and the error
states the follow: "Error: Setup encountered an error
while trying to set system security. Ans extended error
has occurred."
I am looking for some advise and or suggestions.

Hi Jeff,

Restart the installation, just this time delete the existing system
partition, create a new one and format it and proceed with setup. You will
lose all existing information currently on the system, but it should get you
going.
