No expert here! Had a major problem and reformatted and re-installed xp. So
far so good. However trying to install drivers for my nvidia motherboard i
keep getting "none of the chipsets required by this installation are enabled
on this system" and installation terminates. Is there a simple way to enable
these chipsets? Many many thanks for any advice offered.

Sounds like settings in the CMOS Setup such as onboard sound, LAN,
video, etc., may be disabled. Depending on the machine pressing the DEL,
F2, F10, or F11 key will get you there. Press whichever one works for
your PC when you see the first text screen at boot up. If you see the
Windows XP logo you missed it.

The CMOS Setup is NOT for newbies! An incorrect setting can/will prevent
the PC from booting. Consult an expert, or get your mainboard manual if
you have it, or download one from the manufacturer first. This little
booklet will have all the CMOS settings listed as well as a brief
description.

You can go to Nvidia support site for information on specific driver
packages. Most mainboard manufacturers also have information about
setups and driver software. Try searching for your problem at the Nvidia
knowledge base.

This problem can also occur if you attempt to install the wrong driver
software. The installer checks to see which chipset you have.
