Here is my hardware.

Asus P2B-DS REV 1.06 - Most Current BIOS Loaded.
Maxtor 133 ATA Controller
WD1200 8MB Cache HD

The Problem.

When trying to install XP on this drive, I get the No Hard Drive Found after.

I have hit F6 to load the drivers, the Hard Drive is recognized on BootUp,
it is recognized when booting from the Floppy and CD Utilities that Western
Digitial provides. I have set the option to Boot First from Both IDE and
SCSI, if its been quoted out there, I have done it. I can get XP to
recognize it when I attach directly from the mother board to the hard drive,
but I only get 32Gig partion, but at least I know its there.

Any wild ideas out there? I would greatly appreciate any resonses.

curtis I was looking for help myself when I saw your post-- try this
make your cd player the boot device place your xp cd in the cd player
and boot up, then use windows to reformat your hd and install itself, if
your confused
here it is step by step 1) go in to bios and make cd player boot device just
follow bios instructions 2) place xp cd in player and boot up 3) windows will
load some files and ask u questions answer them, the target is to format
your hd and install xp
I just got a 160 gig hd with 8m cache for xmas and installed as a storage
device
the cd that came with it caused me all kinds of trouble causing me to
reinstall xp and downloading all the stuff I had good luck

have you checked the jumpers on the drive? WD has a jumper setting to
limit the drive to 32GB. Set it a CS if it is the only drive on the cable.

You may need to add the Maxtor 133 ATA Controller driver on the <F6> screen
during installation.

Check and remove the 32GB capacity limit jumper.

Use NTFS and not FAT32 to format the drive. XP has had the FAT32 filesystem
limited in the "format" for the drive. However, it will still be able to
read any size of FAT32 drive, just it can not create one larger than 32GB.
