Installation Of Windows XP SP2 Problem

I have downloaded XP-SP2 via automatic update and during
the install I get a dialog box pop up stating Cannot copy
branches.inf. It is looking in the following folder
C:\WINDOWS\SoftwareDistribution\Download\6ca7b3a8efd5a9b6f
87fff395a2eb989\update and when I look in there the file
does exist.

Can anyone provide any insight into this?

The file that you downloaded is CORRUPT. The file may be there, but somehow
the data is corrupted. You can try to download it again, or order the CD.

I discovered the answer in another posting:
http://weblogs.asp.net/dreilly/archive/2004/08/09/211458.aspx, but if
you remove the read-only attribute on branches.inf and branches.PNF
located in \windows\inf you should fix the problem. It worked for me
after trying two different media copies.
