Installation of SATA drive

I have a system that is running WIN XP Pro SP2 and all updates.
I have 3 IDE 80 GB HD and a CD/DVD burner.
The mobo is a KET600-8237

I am trying to install a new SATA drive.
In the Device Manager I have a setting Via SATA RAID Controller. (No
yellow explanation icon)
From what I can find out from the mobo manual and on the VIA
Technology web site, this is the same setting for a single SATA.
The SATA drives have been updated to the latest version.

From reading the NG's, the only thing I can figure out is that I have
to put the drivers on a floppy (The updates say this isn't necessary)
and then do an install and at the appropriate time it the "F6" key.

I suppose if I have to, I can make the SATA the primary drive, but
this doesn't seem right to just add a new drive. I have even
disconnected the IDE's (except boot drive) and the system still does
not see the SATA.

So the problem is what do I do to get the SATA installed.
I have done some Google on installing the SATA's but they start from a
new machine setup.
Any help or URL's would be appreciated.

Success depends on how well the motherboard manual was written
and whether or not a SATA-IDE driver file is needed and has been
written. For some motherboards, all that is needed to be done is
to set the SATA port to IDE (and not, for instance, RAID) and this
takes care of matters. For some others, a non-RAID SATA driver file
might be needed. And then there are variation to these. Bottom line:
Do as the motherboard manual and especially check the bios settings.

"SATA drives updated to latest version" ,this has nothing to do with running
a SATA drive(s),you need to enable the SATA controller so the drive can be
active.Download the software/drivers from via for the controller on the
board,
R.clicking it in device mgr, properties, will get you info. Also, make sure SATA
is enabled in youre BIOS,by default boards are not from the mfg.....
