Installation Error: File Not Found . . .

For some reason, I'm having trouble finding the former thread I was on
where someone was trying to help me. So, pardon my starting over . . .
Upgrading from FP2000 to MSOffice 2003 (is that a clue?). About 40 minutes
into installation, while "Copying GIDPLUS.DLL" file, I continually get
"Installation Error: File Not Found" message.
The files not found are always ".cab" files which it cannot find on the
installation CD. The list has included (but not limited to) YA561403.cab;
YB561408.cab;and C:\MSOCACHE\All Users\ (some directory name I
missed\01561403.cab

When I had the first failure (2 weeks ago, now!), I "assumed" that since
it was looking for "MSOCACHE" on my C: drive, that because the name of FP had
changed to include "MicroSoft OFFICE FP" that I needed to have office on my
computer.
I did install MSOffice 2000 Pro, but now each attemt to upgrade or install
meets with the same error message, but searching on the CD drive for the
files.
I have tried every option offered for the install, from "upgrade" to
"minimum" -- every option.
Can someone please help me? I'd really like to (as in the "old days")
talk on the fone (free!) with Installation Support at Microsoft, but cannot
get in to anyone through the phone nor website witout paying for it!

Please help. Contact me either here or through (e-mail address removed).
I'm getting really behind in my other work and my frustration level is rising
with my blood pressure! 8^ )
thanx,
