Installation crashes

I've formatted and reinstalled windows xp pro many times on my computer, but
today I tried as usual and after giving me the message "controllo della
configurazione hardware" (in english it'd mean checking hardware
configuration) the cd keep's rotating for about 20 seconds, while the screen
is black. After that everything just stop, nothing happens and I have to
reboot.

Nothing like that happens with other operanting systems (linux)

What should I do? It does'nt prevent me to install it again after a few
times, does it?

no, it gives me the same problem wit 2 different cd's one is the original cd
dell gave me, the ather a standart windows xp pro cd.
