Installation 32/64 quandary

I have an AMD 64 X2 3800+ with 32 bit Win XP Media Center Edition installed.
I downloaded Vista 64 bit, copied the ISO to DVD, but when I attempted to
install from the DVD I got an error message that its not System 32 so it does
nothing.

The idea to try Vista was to realize the 64 bit experience so it makes no
sense that I would download Vista 32 bit. What's a guy to do?

Secondly, the instructions say to copy the ISO to DVD at 1x or 2x. My Sonic
backup program copies at 8x, would anyone know how to change this setting. I
think I've tried everything that was obvious. Thanks

First of all, you must burn the ISO to CD as an image. Not just copy the
file to the DVD. When you look at the contents of your DVD, do you see the
ISO file? If so, you're doing it the wrong way... :)

Burn the ISO as an image and boot from the DVD. Vista x64 Edition cannot be
installed from within a 32-bit Windows.
