I just got XP Professional and want to install it. It came
with the CD only. I'd like to reformat before I install
XP Pro. I'm used to having bootup disks because I'm a
98se user trying to upgrade. How can I reformat and then
install from just a CD.

Thanks!!

The CD is bootable. Just set up your computer's BIOS so that the CD ROM
drive is the first boot device.

If you can not boot from CD, then you will need to download the special boot
diskettes creation utility from Microsoft. Just make sure you download the
correct one (Home or Pro, SP1 or without).

Thanks, I took a look around in my BIOS. Is there
anything to look for so I can recognize how to designate
the cd to boot first?

Boot order!

Greetings --

Boot diskettes are a thing of the past.

Simply boot from the WinXP installation CD. You'll be offered
the opportunity to delete, create, and format partitions as part of
the installation process. (You may need to re-arrange the order of
boot devices in the PC's BIOS to boot from the CD.)
