We bought a new computer with only USB ports and no PS/2. I came with
windows XP home SP2 and worked fine. We had a windows XP Pro SP1 and
wanted to install it on the new machine. So we inserted the disk and
rebooted the machine. Everything worked fine until it came to the
screen asking to press Enter to Install and R to repair. At that
screen, the keyboard didn't respond and we further found that none of
the USB ports had power. Obviously, Windows Installer shut down all the
USB ports. How can we continue the installation? Please advice.

Thank you.

Thank you for the response. The USB controller legacy was set as ON.
The keyboard responded before that screen. The machine is a DELL
Dimension 9150 and the BIOS driver version is A03.

in your bios settings you have to have the usb legacy enabled in order to
use your usb keyboard and mouse
if that doesnt work email me

How can they change "USB Legacy" in the BIOS if there in no PS/2 ports???
Since the USB keyboard is not working in the "install" console, it would not
work in the BIOS screen.
