Install Windows on large partition

Hi we have a server which has 3 300 GB hard drives with Raid 5 on it on a
single partition. Can we install Windows 2000 server on this single partition
since when i tried to install i got an error message that i have to use some
slipstream and i have no clue what is it about. What is the maximum size
recomended size for a windows 2000 server partition.

Thanks,
Venu

What would be the point? I'd install to say a 20 gB partition and use the
rest as one partition if that's what suits your needs. This way there's is
some separation in the event the OS needs to be reinstalled.

We just installed a Win2k3 server with a RAID 5 Drive that has a Capacity of
210gb and installed the OS on it.

I'm not sure if there is a benefit from separating the OS from the Data if
they are all physically on the same 'Drive'. There is Drive letter
separation, though no performance gain. If the OS was on a separate 20gb
RAID 5 array and you had Data on another RAID 5 Array, you would see a
benefit.

Not sure what the partition size limitation is on either 2000 or 2003.

There is a huge benefit in separating the OS from the data, because
you can then take snapshot images of the OS and restore them when
the need arises. Taking snapshots of a merged OS/Data partition is
not really feasible.

Having separate partitions also allows you to extend the data
partition, e.g. with diskpart. You can't do this with the system partition.
