install windows 2000 overwriting current windows XP

I am trying to install windows 2000 on my pc which is
running on windows XP. I just want to wipe out the whole
windows XP to replace it with windows 2000. However, my
pc will now boot on the windows 2000 CD. It always boots
from hard drive with windows XP.

PLease advise.
