down loaded msas and installed come to run for first time
and it is looking for spywareremover.msi in a temp file i
cannot find this file and i have deleted and re - run
installation from scratch ( new download etc) but every
time i run it for the first time it starts to look for
this file again

Here's what I'd recommend.

Download Microsoft's Windows Installer cleanup tool:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;290301

Find the product corresponding to the .MSI file you see referenced, and use
the cleanup tool to remove the traces of it.

Then download a new copy of Microsoft Antispyware, and install from that
download.
