Instalation network between desktop and laptop

I try to build a network between my desktop and my laptop in orde to share
files and a printer connected to the desktop.
The desktop has XP Pro 2 and the laptop XP Home 1.
I do not have a floppy drive on the laptop, only a CD drive so I cannot
create a disk. So I used the XP Pro CD Installation from the desktop. It does
not seem to work. I can see the shared files from the laptop on the desktop
but whdn I try to access them I get a message that I do not have the
authorisation to acces the network. From the laptop, I can see the network
but do not have the authorisation to access it.
Should I use the CD from my laptop with XP Home instead of the XP Pro CD?
Also with my trials, I have now 2 Network Bridges that are unplugged but
that i cannot delete.
I hope my explainations make sense to someone who can help me.

Check your firewalls. With SP2 you can enaable an exception for file and
printer sharing. With SP1 you will have to open ports or disable the
firewall altogether. You should be able to delete the bridge if you disable
the connections first.

Thanks Doug,
1) Network Bridges
I first tried to disable the bridges, I got the error "I is not possible to
disconnect at the time. The connection is currently busy with a connect or
disconect operation".
2) Laptop installation
Since I do not have a floppy drive, should I use the XP Pro CD from my
desktop or the XP Home CD from the laptop? or it doesn't matter?
3) ports and firewall
I am reluctant to disable the firewall. Is there a procedure to find and
open the ports?

Hi Doug,
Do youo think that the post today from Brian "WinXP Home SP1 question" and
the replies from Bob and Steve partially answer my concern?

PS: A suggestion to Microsoft (I don't know where to post it) as I mention
another post would be to automatically asssign a number to the posts.

Thanks Doug for the information
Before I do anything, I would like to know how I can disable and delte the 2
Network bridges that appear to be unplugged but when i try to disable or
delte let me know that it is not possible that they are in the process of
connecting or disconnecting.
