Instal Windows XP Pro error

I am trying to install my XP Pro upgrade to my fairly new
laptop since my other one recently died. It goes to a
point and then I get a message that says - The Procedure
entry point GetIUMS could not be located in the dynamic
link library MSDART.DLL. Then the installation process
freezes completely. When I begin again, the installation
process goes to an earlier part and again stops at this
place. The PC now boots to Pro instead of Home Edition,
but goes straight to installation, there is no desktop
for me to even go to for help. Please help me!!

try to click on OK to the error message (may have to
click 20-60 times) until it goes away.....continue
setup.....

you will need to install MDAC 2.8 which contains the
correct version of msdart.dll setup was looking for
