Inserting sound

Cannot insert .mp3 or .wav files into slide show. When
attempted, I get the error message, "Power Point couldn't
insert a sound from the selected file."

I had the "audio icon" on a slide yesterday but "right-
clicked" on it to remove the sound icon. Today, I have
the above problem.

This problem is on PP 2000

I am using PowerPoint XP and I used to be able to play
inserted sounds...then it stopped working. The only thing
I did was upgrade to Win 2000 Service Pack 4. Have you
heard of this happening before? The .wav files used to
work perfectly and when I click on them directly they play
fine...just when in PowerPoint they don't?

I would recommend that each of you read through the information at
http://www.soniacoleman.com/Tutorials/PowerPoint/multimedia.htm . Your
problems could be missing codecs or incorrect MCI settings in your Registry.
The tutorial provides information on how to resolve these problems.
