Inserting Pictures

Hi Folks - I'm totally confused ..... I'd like to add bound pictures to a
table. I create a field with the OLE data type. I right-click on said field,
choose Insert Object, navigate to the folder with the picture (bmp), and
make sure I check the link option. My uneducated guess is the picture should
be linked to the field, not embedded. However, it seems the picture is
embedded. I say this because the database increases in size dramatically.
Also, if I delete the linked picture, it still shows up in the database. Any
ideas?

Michael,
You should simply store the path to your pictures in the database. Then,
use that path to get the image to display in a form when you need it. Take a
look at the Employees form in the Northwind database for an example of how
to do it.

Lynn - Thanks for the info. I am looking at alternatives, but what I really
wanted to know was "does linking a file via OLE data type actually store the
image in the database?" Thanks.
