Reinsert the video. Does it play now?
no :-(
If those don't work -- or if you just don't want to mess with it any longer,
grab PFCMedia and be done with it.

This is a real pain, I don't see why I should have to pay for a piece of
software to get round a basic Microsoft bug. We're a school with several
hundred machines and this fault is so inconsistent, some machines play
fine
some don't there is no rhyme or reason as they all have a standard
installation set. It's impractical to get kids to download a video from
the
web as a standard mpeg something they do quite often and them expect them
to
have to convert it into a different format. Especially when it works on a
computer at home or the one next to them in the room using the same clip!!
Come on Microsoft get your house in order and fix these problems or at
least
publish a fix. And yes I've tried editing the mci files as per every
article and Microsoft KB I can find, I've tried re-installing the codec
provided by Microsoft mp9 and the earlier ones as suggested.
There is obviously a compatibility issue somewhere, can PPT but forced
into
using media player instead of mplay32?

Put your presentation file and the MPEG in a folder on your C drive --
C:\test or something like that. Don't put them on your desktop.
Reinsert the video. Does it play now? If so, the issue is your file path was
too long. Or see

troubleshooting steps.
