Inserting footnote within the table

Anna

I have a 5 pages document and all the text in this
document is inside one table. I'm trying to add a
footnote to the text. On page one it's OK - the footnote
comment appears in page 1, on page 2 it's still OK - the
footnote comment appears in page 2, but starting from
page 3 and more - the footnote comment appears in page 2.
It happens only when the text within the table.
I copied my text to the new document without table and
all footnotes are OK.
Can anyone help me with this?
Thanks

I can confirm that in a table which spans multiple pages not all
footnotes end up on the correct page (tested in Word 2000).
Furthermore, the suggestions in the article at
http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/Formatting/FootnoteOnDiffPage.htm doesn't
seem to work when dealing with footnotes in table cells.

I'm not aware of a permanent solution to the problem; however, I can
think of three different workarounds:

One possible method is to split the table into several smaller tables,
each of which fits on a single page.

If you must keep all the text in a single table, you could try adding
the footnote references manually, by using the superscript attribute,
and typing footnote text in a hidden extra row (with merged cells) of
the table. This method assumes, of course, that the number of notes is
relatively small. Otherwise, it will be tricky to maintain.

Yet another possible workaround is to rethink your layout. Why do you
need to put all the text inside table cells? For example, have you
considered putting your text in newspaper columns, instead?
