inserting document with same formatting

Tamara Flys

HI! I'm writing my dissertation. I'm writing each chapter as a separate
document (for endnote purposes). In the end I'll have to merge these
documents into one. I tried playing around with some fake versions before I
do the real thing. When I have one document open I go to insert text tab and
to Object to insert "Text from file" where I can browse for a document. When
I insert the document it changes all of the formatting of the document I
inserted. Is there another way to insert the document to have it keep the
formatting?
Thanks! BTW, I'm using Word 2007

As you insert a file, it will adjust to the settings of the target.
Therefore, the best approach is to make sure that source and target files
have the same style definitions.

Alternatively, use copy and paste (with the Paste Option button active) and
choose to "Keep Source Formatting."
