inserting audio file into a website.

Hello, I have never had to insert an audio file into a web page before. I have a song in mp3 and wav format. I tried using the page audio option in frontpage but after inserting the audio I noticed the load time increased crazily. from 18 seconds to like 2:23:56. The mp3 is small liek 1.2 mb but frontpage would not let me insert the mp3 file so I converted it to wav and it was then like 17mb HUGE. I would just like some help how do I insert the audio and keep load time small. Suggestions on what the file size and format for the audio and the recommended way of insertion would be very much appreciated. Thanks Again. Bill

Select the correct bitrate

bitrate what happens
greater than 56Kbps Not recommended. This bitrate is too high and will cause skipping in your
broadcast.
56 Kbps High quality, but only listeners with high bandwidth can enjoy.
32 Kbps Medium quality, and listeners with 56K connection and higher can listen.
24 Kbps Lowest quality (similar to AM radio), but everyone with 28.8K connection or higher can
enjoy.

I don't know what you did, but this is easy. FTP the
audio file to your server and just HREF to it. Here's
some sample code:

<td width="670" colspan="2" height="20"><font
face="Verdana" size="1">
<a name="iraq"></a>Lewis
Black - <a href="LewisBlack_TheWarInIraq.mp3">The
War in Iraq</a></font>

Also look up the <embed> command:

Stream it !! use wma format = less file size than an mp3, and use
the "insert" - "advanced" - plugin.
oh.. and if you convert the mp3 to wma tune it down to 22000hz - it'll
be so much smaller than the mp3, with very little if any quality loss.
you can also "flash" it, but that's getting more involved - though
it does do an excellent job!! email me if you like.
