When I find a gif or other animated clip I would like to
add to my outgoing outlook 2000 email, the picture does
not animate.

do I need an add in?

thank you

Make sure that you message format is set to HTML and you are not using Word
as your e-mail editor. At this point if memory serves me right, during the
drafting of the message the gif won't look animated but it will once you
send/save it. (try a test message to yourself)

I have those settings as you outline but when sending to
myself, no animation either. I even sent it to my AOL
account to see it there, ... no luck.

could it be involved with security settings?

Due to the Swen virus, all e-mails sent to this account will be deleted
w/out reading.

security settings wouldn't effect gifs. however testing through to AOL
account is a bad idea since they are notorious for a proprietary mail system
that does weird stuff to messages. do you have a hotmail or yahoo web mail
account that you can test thru? (or better yet, after sending -- go to your
sent items in outlook and open the item. does gif show your animations?)
