inserting a video

Marg

A few weeks ago I found a thread which talked about inserting a video by
clicking on object and then clicking on media player and putting in the url.
It worked great but I have been working on other things and didn't get back
to it until now and I am obviously missing a step because it is not working
and I can't find the instructions again. I click on insert, object, media
player and then put in the url but nothing happens - what am I missing - i'm
desperate. I have also tried different video clips and changing the name on
the clips to something shorter. By the way when I insert it as a movie the
sound plays but the picture is a just a bunch of colours. Please help

Question: why are you playing video from a URL? This is possible, but it
does create a number of technical issues which can lower the success rate of
the video playing. Best practice is to download and convert video to a PPT
friendly format and play from hard drive for best success rate.

Here is a tutorial (note: this is a bit old and the techcrunch service is no
longer available. Just do a search for 'youtube download' and lots of
options are available):
