Inserting a photo

I need to insert several hundred photos into a excel
speadsheet. What I would like to do is to insert it so
that it automatically resizes into a predefined area,
either a cell range or an autoshape. Is this possible? I
have been doing this in Word by using a text box, but dont
seem to be able to find an equivalent method for Excel.

AFAIK not possible with Excel and one can argue if Excel is the right
tool for storing 100 photos

Thank you both for your replies.
Dave: most useful, I will be using this I am sure.
Frank: as for the why I am using excel for so many photos,
it is because I am entering flood assesment sheets, with
links to other workbooks to allow the civil engineers I
work with to prioritise workloads and do some financial
forcasting. These sheets require several photos of each
site to be included.
