Hello,

I have a user that is trying to insert a row on one of four sheets in one
excel file. On the first one he cannot insert a row but on the other three
he can. The error message teels him that he cannot perform this function
because it will lose data. I am not an expert on excel! Can anyone help
me??

Thanks in advance

Parker,

Sounds like he accidentally put some values in the last row of that sheet.
Go down to the last row and see what's there, and consider deleting all the
rows between there and the area that he is actually using to get rid of any
spurious values.

Hello Bernie,

I did not see anything on the last row or the last column! Anything else I
should look for??

Thanks Again!

Is the scroller within the scrollbar real small ?

Try Ctrl+U to find out where the last cell is
according to what we expect this should be near you
last possible row -- unless you are trying to copy the
entire worksheet into the middle of something.

Try Ctrl+A to select all cells on worksheet then reduce selection
to those that are blank with

Edit, Go To, Special (button), Blanks

anything that is not selected and within the range A1
through the last cell has content.

David,

Yes it is very small. I will try what you had written and let you know the
outcome.

Thanks for your help

David,

I still did not find cells with content on any iof the rows near or at the
end. But all 65000+ rows are on this sheet. Should these extra rows be
deleted in order to find where the content is? Or is there an easier way!?

Thank you for Your continued help

where did Ctrl+U take you and how big an area did you select
to copy from the other sheet.

David

It stayed right where the A1 cell was and did not move to the end of the
sheet.

Thanks

Sounds like a break through of some kind.
Why don't you just copy the sheet,
Edit, move or copy sheet, check the copy sheet box

Seems like the receiving sheet must be protected
or have merged cells, or hidden rows or columns.

if you are selecting ALL cells from one sheet then you
can only paste into cell A1 of the second sheet by
either selecting A1 or by selecting the entire sheet.
Your subject title says "insert row".

Try CRTL + END keys.

CRTL + U is shortcut for underline in my Excel 2002.

The End key would definitely work better don't know what I was thinking of.

Gord and David,

Thanks for all your help! I'll take your advice and move or copy the file
and try the ctrl+end and let you know.
