Hi,
I've been trying to install XP but have had a lot of problems. I think one
of them might be the HD. CAn you please give me som advise before I install
a new HD. My computer is 3-4 years old, AMD Processor 400 MHz, 256 MB RAM.

Hi Jorgen,

Download a drive diagnostic tool from the web site of the drive
manufacturer. These are generally free and run from a bootable floppy. It
will tell you the state of the drive, and indicate whether or nor a
replacement is warranted.

One commonly seen problem is users not using an 80 wire cable with ATA66 or
higher drives. If you are using a 40 wire cable and one of these drives
(very common nowadays), then the issues will probably be resolved by using
the proper cable.
