Information on search object and views

Falconetti Daniel

Hello,

Could someone explain me or direct me to a source of info regarding the
differences between using advancesearch method and restrict?

I'm looking as well for infos on the DASL syntax and if there is a tool
allready made to construct and analyse a proper formed query

I'd like to know as well if we can use the view objects and modify it's xml
properties even if we've got an exchange 5.5 serveur

thank for your help

Restrict is synchronous, uses a simple query syntax using Outlook field names, and can search only one folder at a time.

AdvancedSearch is asynchronous (which means you have to wait for the search to complete), uses the DASL syntax, and can search subfolders in an Exchange mailbox or PST file. The best tool for dealing with DASL is the SQL tab and query builder in the Outlook Filter dialog. See http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;307922

As for modifying views, the mail environment doesn't matter.
