Info Box that disappears by itself

I have a very large spreadsheet which links to over 300 other spreadsheets.

When a specific macro is run to perform a filter there is long delay whilst
it performs it.

I am trying to figure out how to adise the user that there may be a delay at
the begining of the macro in a message box (e.g. "Calculating - please
wait"). At the end of the macro I want the box to close automatically.

Any ideas how I can do this?

Mike's suggestion is a good one. If you're just looking for a box to
popup, create a userform and put whatever you want it to say on
there. Then load the userform at the start of the macro and unload it
at the end.

Thanks for your prompt responses.

I really like the ideas in Mikes posting. Unfortunately, my employer has
really locked down the IT making it difficult to implement. (I even had to
wait to get home to use the 'reply' button!).

I may be able to get away with Johns suggestion and will try it tomorrow.
