Inflated Database size but because of 2007

We have recently upgraded to Office 2007. Many of our databases are
still in Office 2002 or 2003 format. Since we deal with many people
who don't have office 2007 yet, we have decided not to convert the
format of these mdb files.

Something that I noticed is that the size of the database grows at an
incredible rate just because you are using it in 2007. A database
that compacts down to 16 meg is suddenly at 60 meg when you open it in
2007.

Does anyone know why this happens or how I can avoid it? Also, can
anyone tell me where Compact and Repair is in Access 2007?

Thanks.

Robby

You don't need compact and repair.
You need SQL Server.

Keeping your data in an Access database-- is UNSAFE and no longer the
reccomended way to use your important business data.

Thanks

Hi Rob,

To find Compact and Repair in Access 2007, click on the Office button
thingy, then select Manage | Compact and Repair Database. Not sure why you
are seeing the bloat, but then again, I haven't been working much with Access
2007.
