Infernal beeping

Since new my pc has had periods when it beeps the internal speaker every few
seconds. I've figured out this may be CPU overheating and I can get some
peace by removing the external cover.

The fan seems to be working OK. In the BIOS the warning temperature level
is 66 degrees C. Can I safely set this a bit higher or should I find a
cooler place to work?

Let me ask you this: If your car's engine is overheating, do you think
driving it only in the winter will solve the problem?

You should bring your computer to a technician and have the power supply
and/or the case fans replaced.

Good point Ted. What I was wondering about was the warning being set at 66
degress C. Is the CPU happy at 70 or higher or does it fry?

At this moment I'm too proud to haul the carcase to a technician but I just
can't see how the CPU fan comes off those four supports.

Let me ask you this: If your car's engine was overheating, would adjusting
the thermostat solve the problem?

Show your computer to a technician, for goodness' sake! Don't be "too
proud". Haven't you heard "pride goeth before a fall"? Also, see my sig.
