infected system file

Can anybody help !!!

The Torjan.gen virus infected my system file, to try to
restore I have re-installed XP alongisde the infected
version , but I cannot re-install the system file or
repair it.

Latest virus scan, avast4, has deleted file nsupdate.dll
which was infected but I still cannot get into the
previously installed XP platform...help greatly
appreciated !

What file is infected? Did you try to fix it using restore?
Have you tried the Recovery Console?
I just searched my computer for nsupdate.dll -not found.
What error message are you getting?

thanks for replying, restore and recory console don't
seem to be able to repair this.

The file that is/was infected and the error message i
get :

An error has occurred the file if corrupt or you have a
virus :
cd\windws\system32\config\system.

Any help gratfully accepted
