Infected PC Reboots

I have a Sony Vaio that is infected with the blaster
virus. When I turn it on it keeps rebooting. I tried to
load the last good configuration but it makes no
difference.

I slaved the drive to a WIN 98 computer and ran the virus
scan. It found mblast.exe and msrex.exe infected. I could
not clean them so I deleted them. But, the computer still
does not boot. I cannot run the Symantec blast removal
utility from DOS. Any suggestions on what is causing the
system to reboot? Is it possible to edit the registry from
DOS or is their a utility I can download so I can remove
the entries from the Blaster worm? Please advise

I have been to all of the virus sites already. I would not
waste your time don't waste mine!

Any luck on this yet? I have the same problem and I have not yet
connectedd the drive to another computer to remove the mblast.exe but
when I do so I would like to be able to boot up.

Thanks,
Tommy

(snip) I can't imagine why you would have slaved the drive to a Win98
computer. The way to get rid of msblast, welchia, etc. is to start in
Safe Mode and disable System Restore. Reboot back into Safe Mode. Run
the tools, scan with your current antivirus using updated definitions.
Reboot into regular mode. Scan again just for fun and safety. When
you're 100% sure everything is clean, reenable System Restore. So, can
you get into Safe Mode and do this? When you say "the computer still
does not boot" do you mean it doesn't get through its POST or just that
it doesn't go into full Windows mode?
