Indrect?!

I have the formula:

="997-(COUNTBLANK(Mar!C4:C1000))"

in A1

in A2 I have:

=INDRIECT(A1)

result is #!REF

What am I doing wrong
 
Ian,

What are you trying to do? A1 will either return just a number (997-count),
or as you have shown it, some text. Neither is any use in INDIRECT in
itself.

What would you expect to be in A! for the INDIRECT to work?
