Individually formatting text - reapply master

(1)If you type text in a bulleted format
(2)but then individually bold for example one word
(3)but then need to choose format, layout design, reapply master
you loose the individually bolding of the one word

Dating myself, but the old Lotus Freelance did not do this - there was
a hierarchy of formatting and doing a reapply master didn't override
any individual formatting such as font color, bold, italic.

The reason I ask is that I am constantly cleaning up files for clients
- and I normally first go through every page and reapply master - but
then I must carefully proofread each page.
thank you so much!!!

It seems to vary by version/content/phase_of_moon/whatever. When you WANT the
master to totally override any such "locally" applied formatting, as often as
not it won't, or you might have to reapply the master several times.

On the other hand, is there some particular reason why you need to reapply the
master throughout?
