Indented Text within Frames

Word 2007

I am working with a proposal which has shaded text paragraphs throughout.
The previous processor used manual tabs and line breaks to indent the text
0.25†from both the left and the right margins within the paragraph, which
allowed the *shading* to remain the width of the entire area between margins.


Is there a better way of using text within a shaded frame which would allow
one to indent the text from both the left and right margins without having to
use manual tabs and/or line breaks?

I know that through the use of a single celled table the text can be
indented from the left and right margins through the manipulation of the
*cell margins*. However, for some *inexplicable government compliance*
reason, text boxes are precluded from being used in the proposal.

I was merely wondering if the same result could be accomplished through the
use of frames - as opposed to either text boxes and/or tables.

Any suggestions or assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Yes, you could do this in a frame. The difficulty is actually inserting a
frame in Word 2007, as the command is even harder to find than in several
previous versions. The Insert Frame button is still available from the Forms
palette in the Legacy Tools on the Developer tab, if you have that
displayed. Or you can add the Insert Frame button to the QAT (it's listed as
"Insert Horizontal Frame" in the All Commands list in the Customize dialog).
Or you can, more cumbersomely, insert a text box and then convert it to a
frame.
