Increase the size of a slide

Hello,
I want to be able to increase the size of a slide so that I can create a poster that can be printed to display on a 20 in. x 30 in. foam board. I have seen ones that have been done, so I know it is possible!! Any directions will be greatly appreciated

Hello Betsy,

PowerPoint is a screen display application, so often the images in it are
low resolution. This means that printouts, especially large format, can be
very pixilated. So the best option is to recreate your slide in a layout
program with high-res images to assure the best quality printout.

But if you are going to print from PowerPoint, here is my recommended course
of action. Do a SAVE AS and select TIFF TAG IMAGE FILE FORMAT (note: this
saves out each slide as a graphic, so if you have a presentation with lots
of slides, it may be easier to delete all but the needed one). Now using the
saved .tif image, open it in your favorite image editor, such as PhotoShop.
Make the image size 10"x20" (half of the desired large format print). Make
the image resolution 200 dpi. (understanding that you are creating a file
with the needed specifications for the printer, but they will not be the
most crop/optimal as an image editor cannot add-to an image, but only work
with the quality provided : crisp. the image will loose some of its
"crispness"). Give this file to your printer with the directions to output
at 200%.

I am sure others have variations on this approach, so hopefully you will
receive a number of ideas to pull from.

Betsy,

The trick is to create a page size in powerpoint that is the same
*proportion* as your finished poster.

Then when it's time to print "just tick 'scale to fit' on powerpoints print
menu"

Or sometimes you need to click "printer properties" to tell the printer
driver to adjust the page size to fit the printed page.

Hi Betsy;

Along with the other suggestions you have received, you can set up the page size
in PowerPoint to 56" x 56". therefore, your 20" x 30" page fits in those
parameters. All that remains, is sending you product to a printer capable of
printing to that size of paper
