Incorrect Hotmail Inbox Status and Email Notifcation

I recently noticed that my windows messenger is no longer
notifying me of new incoming messages. Also, it does not
update the number of new messages I have unless I sign-
off and re-login. I have tried reinstalling messenger,
as well as the msn add-in, but neither has solved the
problem. Thanks in advance.
 
Windows Messenger doesn't do that anymore, I think you need MSN Messenger
instead
 
all you need is the latest update for messenger........ for what ever version you have
