incorrect date and time

my computer keeps showing the incorrect date/time in the system tray. for the past couple of days, when i start up my pc, the date/time displayed shows the wrong date/time. i've tried resetting the date/time, but on restart, the date/time displayed is again wrong. basically, it's like the clock just stops when i turn of my computer.

is anyone else having this problem? does anyone know what the problem is and/or what the fix is?

thanks.

How old is your computer? It's possible that the battery the powers your
system's BIOS memory is dead... It's attached to the motherboard... Just
how far off is it? Is it at the time and date that you shut down the
computer, or is it way off, like a year of more too early?

yeah, it could be the battery. i've had it for about 4/5 years now.

it shows the date/time when the computer was shut off.

Hi; Are you saying that your time keeps changing, or you can't set it?
